A young skylark reading for ringing and "donating"a blood sample

I study immunity of wild skylarks. This 8-day-old nestling is waiting for blood sampling and ringing. Colour-rings will make it individually recognizable, so I can follow it throughout its life. Doing field work under all weather conditions and at all times of the day make my work challenging, but also exciting and lovely. Handling a few day old nestling while the sun rises and the grass is still wet from the last night is amazing. Doing this for novel research is the fascination of science!
