A calm day in the Lena River Delta

My research on permafrost hydrology led me to this fascinating, deserted landscapes in Siberia. Small water fluxes from the tundra landscapes are the result of complex hydrological processes and feed eventually the huge Lena River. Doing field research fascinated me from the beginning of my studies on and seeing ecosystem processes with my own eyes inspires me always in my research efforts. Luckily, a sunday walk at the beach on an unusual calm day offered me the scenery for my picture.
