For ethnologists fieldwork in religion is fascinating, either it is interviewing a young man who is dressed as a medieval Santiago pilgrim making an 'esoteric' journey to arrive at sunset at the end of the world in Finisterre (Atlantic shore, Spain), or observing a befriended colleague who was prepared to undergo a risky 'limpia' in order to find out how an illegal ritual cleansing in the back of one of LA's botanica shops actually is performed.
