Charred organic materials, also specified as biochars, have received enormous attention in recent years due to their potential for carbon sequestration and amelioration known from the terra preta phenomenon. Due to its high recalcitrance, biochar acts as a stable C compound and represents an essential key factor for the formation of these humus- and nutrient-rich terra preta. In my research, I focus on the reproduction potentials of these specific soil types and its prospective reutilization.
