The Arctic from above

In late Spring one of the largest landscape-changing events on our planet occurs: the great melt of snow and ice in the Arctic. In only a few weeks time the white Earth's surface transforms into an array of brown and green colors. Rivers turn into powerful highways of ice blocks, deltas are flooded, and sea ice slowly retreats. Every summer when I fly into the Arctic to do research I am curious to see what it looks like. Each season and landscape is different and continues to fascinate me.
